A main goal of mine through my interactions with the clients at Mclean Hospital has been to present myself as a positive role model and to help the clients achieve their goals. I worked on the locked Depression Unit counseling six different patients on a rotating basis. I would like to enhance my skills at achieving healthy therapeutic relationships with skills that promote trust, respect for individuals and their differences, empathy and positive regard. Also, self-awareness and the ability to understand myself and how it will affect me as an instrument of change has been a goal of mine through my willingness to engage in my own personal therapy, which has been a highly positive experience.
